Maybe I'm going out on a limb here but the term 'e Maybe I'm going out on a limb here but the term 'email marketing' fills me with absolute horror. I don't like aggressive (doesn't take much to be honest :) marketing techniques done to me and over the years I've found 'marketing' i.e. selling history products uncomfortable.

But, with experience, I've thought actually I don't like all the advice where you're a marketing robot trying to manipulate people with deadlines and scarcity tactics. I'd like a method where you can actually be authentic, a human being, and 'sell' at the same time. So, if writing emails where you're trying to sell a history book, tours, mugs, t-shirts or services leaves you feeling uncomfortable and a bit yucky then check out my 7 tips in the latest post.

Now come on...is it just me who's struggled with this stuff?

Just realised it’s eight years since Richard III Just realised it’s eight years since Richard III was reinterred (not sure what that word means) at Leicester Cathedral. I remember applying for a ticket (failed) The documentary about digging up the car park and all the different discoveries they made about who he was, what he looked like and how he died was truly fascinating. Although I did always wonder why they brought the distant ancestor in last when in my mind that’s the first thing you’d do. Can’t imagine it was just for enhanced drama on the telly so the experts must have had their reason. Richard III, whether books, tv or film, has always been one of my go-to monarchs - a dark and dastardly creator of scandal and treachery or just maligned by history to make the Tudors look good?

So, who’s your go-to monarch?

Do you struggle with feeling like the right way to Do you struggle with feeling like the right way to promote your history blog posts is to put it on every single feature of every single platform, and if you don’t then you’re either missing something or doing something wrong?

Trying to be everywhere is tempting and in some ways logical - you want readers to see what you've worked so hard on!

But, I think there are negative consequences to this that are just not worth it. In my post I show you how to not be everywhere but be everywhere it counts.

If anyone else finds social media exhausting (yes, I do see the irony that this has been posted on Instagram : ) then give me a thumbs-up in the comments to show I'm not alone.

Enjoying this so much. Three words told me this wa Enjoying this so much. Three words told me this was the book for me. 1. Royal 2. Mysteries 3. Medieval. Cliffhangers include...Edward II Murder or Escape? Was Edward IV a bigamist and one this book could not escape who, if anyone, killed the 'Princes in the Tower' If you're into history meets true crime (or was it?) then I think you'll enjoy it too.
